As the Manager of Sport and Recreation Programs at Curtin University, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of our sport and recreation offerings. In this leadership position, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive range of sport and recreation programs. You will lead the strategic planning and growth of both participation and representative sports, ensuring that our programs are inclusive, engaging, and impactful. Your ability to innovate and drive change will be key in expanding our participant base and elevating our program standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Strategic Program Development: Collaborate with Curtin’s Sport and Recreation Senior Leadership team to shape, implement and deliver the strategy for sport and recreation programs, driving growth and fostering excellence for both participation and representative sport initiatives.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage operating budgets to ensure the financial sustainability and success of our programs.
  • Leadership and Innovation: Provide strategic leadership and direction to the programs department, implementing innovative strategies to expand our participant base.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a small team, oversee the training and direction of team leads, manage casual staff allocation to ensure efficient program delivery and high performance.  
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Have:  
  • Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience managing sports programs and/or extensive relevant experience within the sports industry.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a values-driven approach, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of participation and representative sporting programs, with a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes in diverse environments.
  • Proven expertise in strategic budget management, with a track record of effectively allocating resources to optimise program outcomes and financial sustainability.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fostering trust, influencing stakeholders, and cultivating productive relationships.
  • Commitment to implementing best practices and achieving client-focused service delivery excellence through continuous improvement.
